3. Help students master the words and phrases usage.

教学过程:

Step 1 Lead-in

Watch a video and answer the questions:

• What are these people doing in the video?

• Do you also do the same thing in your life?

• How do you like this phenomenon?

• What would you do if you were on the scene?

 

Step 2 Fast-reading

Read the blog post written by Alan about living without a smartphone for a week.

Listen and answer the question: How is the article organized?

A. In the order of time.

B. With the change of places.

C. With the development of feelings.

D. All above.

The right answer is A.

Figure out the structure by the order of time.

How do you understand the title of this blog post "Smartphone: a smart choice?"

What's the function of such a title?

There is a pun in the title. "Smart" in the word "smartphone" is a technical term meaning that the cell phone has some of the functions of a computer, for example, the ability to use apps and access the Internet. In the phrase "a smart choice", the author questions whether using the smartphone is an "intelligent" choice. The use of the pun and question in the title is thought-provoking and appeals to the readers.
